Osaka ATC Summer Vacation 2026 | Ghibli Park Exhibition & Summer Event Guide

Hello, this is Robert from the ATC Management Strategy Office. Exactly one week has passed since last week's article . This is the third installment of "ATC, Summer is in Full Swing."

There's a Polish word, "gwar," which refers to the lively hustle and bustle that fills festivals and events. This week at ATC, we had a day that perfectly embodied that word.

People had already gathered before the venue even opened.

Ghibli Park Exhibition: Ceremony on the Eve of Opening

On July 17th, a line of people had already formed in front of the ATC Gallery even before it opened. Red ribbons were prepared, television cameras lined the area, and the "Ghibli Park Exhibition" opened in this atmosphere. After a short speech, the moment the ribbon was cut, a small round of applause erupted throughout the venue. I feel that the word "gwar" at the beginning was actually meant for this moment.

When I stood in front of the microphone, the venue became a little quieter.

Then, on the 18th, the Ghibli Park Exhibition finally opened to the public. It is being held at the ATC Gallery on the 2nd floor of the ITM building until September 26th. Opening hours are from 9:00 to 17:00, with the last entry at 16:30.

Detailed information regarding the event dates and tickets can be found in the first article , so please refer to that as well.

People gathered at the main gate, and small dinosaurs

Leaving the Ghibli Park exhibition and walking towards the ATC main gate, I encountered another lively scene. It was a performance show by street performers with Osaka performer licenses. It runs from July 19th to 31st, starting around 1 PM. The times may change depending on the weather and the flow of people, so if you happen to stumble upon it, consider yourself a little lucky.

A few days later, a large dinosaur greeted visitors near the Sunflower ferry boarding area. This was part of a promotion coinciding with the Osaka premiere of "DINO SAFARI 2026," an interactive live entertainment show taking place at ATC Hall from August 5th to 12th. Inside the museum, the "ATC Dinosaur Stamp Rally" is also being held from July 18th to August 30th. By collecting stamps from five locations, participants can fold a sheet of paper into a dinosaur puzzle. Participation is free, and those who complete the rally will have a chance to win a prize in a lottery.

The children who passed by did a double-take.

Summer continues as we head towards August.

In August, the "Summer Vacation ATC Insect Exhibition," featuring beetles and stag beetles from all over the world, will open on the 3rd floor of the North Wing of the Oz Building. There will also be a special dome where you can touch live insects, so it might be the perfect destination for families struggling to come up with a summer vacation research project.

Speaking of which, preparations are quietly underway for the "ATC Bay Runner," which I briefly mentioned in my last article. I'll give you more details next time.

August in Osaka is even hotter than July. Even so, the ATC (Asia Tour Center) always feels a little cooler, perhaps due to the sea breeze. If you cross the covered pedestrian bridge from the New Tram's "Trade Center-mae" station, you hardly have to walk in the blazing sun. Spending a day at the Ghibli Park exhibition, collecting dinosaur stamps, and relaxing in the cool building – that sounds like a pretty good way to spend your summer vacation.

This is the third installment of "ATC, Summer is Here!" The Ghibli Park Exhibition is finally in full swing, and even more new events will be held throughout August. This series will run until the end of August, for a total of eight installments. Please join us again next time!

This time, I wrote about the opening ceremony of the Ghibli Park exhibition and the dinosaurs I encountered at the main gate. No matter how many times I see it, the applause when the ribbon was cut always warms my heart a little.
