[Exhibited Netsuke]
Thirteen netsuke from the estate of FM Jones and several works by contemporary netsuke artist Yasushi Kawamoto.
Immediately after World War II, it was transferred from here in the Kansai region.
There was a famous collection of netsuke belonging to a British merchant.
From that collection, which was eventually acquired by an American museum...
A musical work had been created...
One month after the end of the war, R. Bushell visited the home of FM Jones in Shioya, Kobe, along with a message from General MacArthur.
At the time, Jones was working as an interpreter, mediating between the occupying forces and the city of Kobe.
Already famous as "Jones of Netsuke," he bequeathed his collection of over 1,000 netsuke to Bushel, and 60 years later, the feelings he entrusted to the netsuke blossomed into a magnificent musical piece by an American composer, S. Hartkey.
This time, we will also be exhibiting netsuke from FM Jones's personal collection and netsuke by contemporary netsuke artist Yasushi Kawamoto, providing an opportunity for you to pick up, touch, and appreciate contemporary netsuke!
Why not experience a multifaceted art experience at the Nanko Sunset Hall, overlooking the sea and offering panoramic views of Osaka and Kobe, places deeply connected to the FM Jones father and son, along with the exhibited netsuke, featuring "NETSUKE," a song written in 2011 inspired by R. Bushel's netsuke collection housed in the U.S. County Museum of Art; songs derived from British and Japanese folk music, which are the roots of FM Jones; and "Jones on the Beach," a song dedicated to the father and son FM Jones?
